quoteIt is amazing how the thoughts of people expressed in speech or writing become anchors that guide human actions. Because of this, I like to think of these thoughts as inspired by the ‘ideal world’. Today, they have become an integral part of our existence as a large body of them is documented for posterity.

Quotes are the products of learned minds and experience. They are beams of light in a seemingly dark world. They are wisdom for the weak and the strong. Inevitably, a careful consideration of them is bound to enhance one’s reasoning, proffer a better method, tackle that guilt, inspire passion, or any other thing the quote relates to. One thing is certain; you will not remain the same after reading a quote.

One of Literature’s foremost exports, George Bernard Shaw, opines:

Life isn’t about finding yourself.

Life is about creating yourself.

Quote 3On reading this, I bet you took a second to let it simmer in. Did you? If you didn’t, do it now. Concentrate on those words and think about them. Do you now see how deft and profound the quote is? Truly, life is not necessarily about finding yourself; it’s about creating who you want to be. It is about carving the you you want to be. And the earlier you do this, the better.

Audrey Hepburn, a British actress cum humanitarian had this to say about life:

The most important thing is to

Enjoy your life – to be happy –

It’s all that matters

quote 6In one of my articles, Enjoy Yourself, I expounded on this idea. If you consider life closely you’ll come to discover that all the struggles, hassles, troubles, distractions and so on, are geared at denying you a life of bliss. Although one must face all these, the choice to be happy despite their presence should be made. Life is meant to be enjoyed; enjoy yours in every possible (positive) way.

Let me conclude with a quote by Grace Hooper, an American computer scientist and United States Navy rear admiral:

If it’s a good idea, go ahead and

Do it. It’s much easier to apologize

Than it is to get permission.

The world is waiting to witness the extent of your creativity. But the unfortunate thing is that not everyone would think you are sane because your idea may sound crazy. Let Hooper’s words guide you. Be all you can be. If your idea flops, simply apologize and move on. And strive to be better. Waiting for permission will leave you stranded like Robinson Crusoe was on the uninhabited island. Make that move.

 Conclusion

If you are not a fan of quotes, I guess there’s a good reason to be now. There’s a whole lot of wisdom deposited in them, and each one is calling out to you today. Make it a ritual to feed on them everyday and you’ll find appreciable growth in your ability to reason and act. I’ll leave you with a quote I just came up with, and other picture quotes. Bye.

Live while you can.

Life is not always generous.
