Goodluck_Jonathan_nomination_form2The People’s Democratic Party, Nigeria’s ruling party, has upturned a decision that gave President Goodluck Jonathan its sole candidacy for the 2015 Presidential election.


  • The PDP reversed its earlier decision to give President Jonathan its ticket on Monday
  • The decision was contained in a statement signed by the party’s spokesman
  • Other aspirants were asked to come and pick up forms 
  • Some persons that have interest in in position of the president can now pick up forms


In a statement by the party’s Publicity Secretary, Olisa Metuh, on Monday, the party urged all aspirants to ALL POSITIONS for the 2015 general elections to purchase and submit their forms at the party’s National Secretariat.

The statement also announced the extension of deadline for the purchase and collection of Nomination Forms for 2014 Primaries.

“The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) wishes to inform all aspirants to all positions for the 2015 general elections that the deadline for the purchase and collection of all nomination forms has been extended to Thursday, 6th November 2014.

“All aspirants who paid for nomination forms, including the Presidential Form but yet to collect same, should come to the PDP National Secretariat, Wadata Plaza, Wuse Zone 5, Abuja with verifiable evidence of payment for purposes of collection of their forms,” the statement published on the website of the PDP read.

President Jonathan had on October 30 collected the nomination form for the Presidential ticket and the PDP had said that that was the only form available for the position.

The statement had angered some members of the party that wanted to vie for the position. They had questioned the presence of internal democracy in the party as the party leaders had always claimed.
