A spokesman for the military, Major General Chris Olukolade, said that several sorties were being flown either in conjunction with ongoing ground assault by troops or to dislodge any concentration of terrorists as a follow up to intelligence reports.

“Simultaneous mopping up operations are also ongoing in the areas already operated upon by Nigerian Air Force have already been mopped up,” Major General olukolade said in a statement.

In the last few weeks, Nigerian military and joint forces of neighbouring countries have increased counter-terrorism operation in the north-east, recovering over 36 communities from the Boko Haram terrorists.

Last week, the military cleared the terrorists from Adamawa State, one of the states that the Boko Haram terrorists have in the last five years tried to establish an Islamic caliphate in.
